Victory Prima Pils |
Downingtown, Pennsylvania |
4 |
Heaps o'hops are hiding under the
full, frothy
head of this elegant pils. All German malt subtleties linger beneath a
long dry finish of this classy quencher. Although lighter in color than
Pilsner Urquell, slightly more bitter and aromatic. |
Spaten Optimator Doppelbock |
Munich, Germany |
6 |
The classic German dark beer,
bottom fermented
'double bock.' Mohagony with a nice creamy tan head. Full-bodied with a
deep dark color and a rich, roasted malt flavor. 7.2% |
Pilsner Urquell |
Pilsen, Czech Republic |
4 |
Light straw color, pungent floral
bouquet from the
Saaz hops. Crisp start, tart to the palate with a perfect balance of
malt and grain flavors, then a dry finish. Light, dry, refreshing...all
the things that made Pilsner beer universally popular. |
Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock |
Warren, Michigan |
8 |
Currently #5 beer in the world
according to
Ratebeer.com. A liquid raspberry truffle! Real raspberry's abound in
this chocolate/caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture
and drinkability. This lager will handle additional age very well. 13% |
Kulmbacher
Eisbock |
Kulmbach, Germany |

The ice bock, also known as
"Bavarian", owes its
discovery to a coincidence. According to the chronicles of the
Kulmbacher brewery, some time around 1900 an apprentice forgot on a
cold winter day to carry two barrels of bock beer into the brewery
cellar. The barrels stayed outside, were covered by ice and snow and
werent discovered until the following spring. The barrels had burst
and the apprentice was reprimanded. But the carelessness was a stroke
of luck because under the thick ice coat, a bock beer extract remained,
strong tasting and high in alcoholic content. |
Stella Artois |
Leuven, Belgium |
2 |
Light, crisp, delicious. Lightly
hopped. More body than Labatt but less bitter than Pilsner Urquell. #1
Selling Belgian beer. |
Schlenkerla
Helles Lagerbier |
Bamberg, Germany |
4 |
A golden-colored lager beer with a
hint of
smokiness (from smoke residue in the brewery filters, not smoked malt).
Medium malt, light hop. |
Schlenkerla
Urbock Rauchbier |
Bamberg, Germany |
7 |
A bitter Smokebock for the
strongbeer-season
(winter). Matured for weeks in the deep rock-cellar and tapped freshly
from the oakwood cask. Intense, aromas and flavors of barbacue smoke,
canadian bacon and sausage in your mouth! One of the most unique styles
of beer from Germany. |
Samichlaus |
Eggenberg, Austria |
7 |
One of the rarest beers in the
world! Brewed only
once a year on December 6th, subsequently fermented and matured for
about 10 months before bottling in October. Thus Samichlaus is a
vintage beer and with around 14% alcohol by volume, one of the
strongest bottom-fermented lagers in the world. 14% |
Red Stripe |
Kingston, Jamaica |
2 |
Clear, light yellow, and slight
head that last for
only a moment. The aroma is a light hoppiness and sweetness. Flavor is
light hoppiness, not bitter, and sweet cane sugar that makes it a
pleasant drink. |
Sam Adams Boston Lager |
Boston, Massachusetts |
4 |
Nice amber color and has the
trademark thick foamy
head that you can float a bottle cap on. The aroma is a truly great mix
of noble hops, Hallertan Mittel-fruh and Tettnanger. The flavor is
every bit as good as the aroma. |
Amstel Light |
Amsterdam, Netherlands |
1 |
Great light beer without the watery
feel and taste
of popular light beers. Excellent body and flavor. Not too heavy, but
still has a good rich taste. |
Corona |
Modelo, Mexico |
1 |
Citrus overtones dominate this
imported lager. Great on a warm afternoon. Try it with lime, or have it
plain. |
Grolsch |
Enschede, Netherlands |
2 |
Thin on the palette-slightly
fruity, crisp and dry. Perhaps the most recognizable bottle (swing-top)
in the world. |
Labatt Blue |
Toronto, Canada |
1 |
A well-balanced, fully matured,
full flavored beer
with a fruity character and a slightly sweet after taste. Labatt Blue
uses specially selected German aromatic hops and has no preservatives. |
Dundee's Honey Brown |
Rochester, New York |
2 |
A dark, pilsner-style beer with
remarkable
balance. Offers a deep golden color, smooth taste, and just a hint of
honey on the palate. A perfect choice for those who appreciate a true
lager. |
Ayinger Celebrator
Doppelbock |
Aying, Germany |
7 |
Full-bodied and velvety from half a
years aging.
There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts,
alcohol, subtle hops and dryness. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt
and whole hop flowers make Celebrator arguably the best of its kind. |
Great Lakes Eliot
Ness |
Cleveland, Ohio |
4 |
Deep Amber red color, with a
fragrant malt aroma.
Flavorful notes of rich carmelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize
on the plalate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of
Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the
brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to
popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident
today. |
Labatt Blue Light |
Toronto, Canada |
1 |
A crisp, clean and delicately
balanced flavor, with a slight sweetness and fruity character. |
Czechvar |
Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic |
4 |
Budvar, or the original budweiser
in the Czech
Republic. Lofty dense cloud like head that doesn't end. Crystal clear
golden color. Balanced delicate aroma of hops and malt. Malty flavor
accentuated by the wonderful Saaz hop taste. Finishes with a hint of
bitterness, not overwhelming, but just right. |
Kronenbourg 1664 |
Strasbourg, France |
2 |
A pale lager with a light hop
finish, and a
slightly sweet malty flavor. Session beer with a little more
body/flavor than your average macro. |
